Carnegie Library Book Drive and TourBook Drive: September 8 to October 9, 2009
Carnegie Tour: Friday, October 9 at 2pm
Do you have too many books? Feel like promoting reading and making a difference in people's lives? Then donate your books to the Carnegie Library.
From the start of September classes until October 9th, LWB@UBC is collecting books to donate to Carnegie Library.
The book drive will culminate in a tour of the Carnegie Branch for interested SLAIS students and will include the opportunity to hand out some of the donated books at the weekly book giveaway on Hastings Street.
The tour will be led by Branch Head Beth Davies.
Carnegie welcomes new and used books on all subjects and is especially looking for:
- paperback science fiction, true crime and westerns
- general paperback fiction, especially horror, adventure, literary fiction and classics
- newer (less than 5 years) health and self-help books
- books on nature, art, rock music, social issues relevant to the neighbourhood (for example, homelessness, addiction and gentrification)
- absolutely anything about Aboriginal peoples and issues
- guidebooks for writers
Just bring your books to SLAIS, and drop it them into one of the donation boxes.
Sign up for the tour by emailing lwb.ubc@gmail.com. Tour space is limited, so sign up early! Registration will start on Sept. 25, 2009 and is first come, first served).
LWB@UBC and Carnegie Library thank you for your support.
This project is coordinated by LWB@UBC members Jeannine Stickle and Cailin Powers. If you have any questions, email lwb.ubc@gmail.com.
