1. BCLA Board Meeting Report
· Andrea attended the first BCLA Board Meeting of the year on January 23
· Some things that might be of interest to students:
o YAACS is looking for interested students to either join their board or help out with events, contact chair Eva Wilson;
o the new online membership database will be launched sometime in March, and the online membership application and payment system should follow soon after;
o minutes of the ALPS AGM are up on the website, as well as the powerpoints and notes from their annual conference held at Kwantlen College;
o information on the BCLA Conference in Harrison Hot Springs in now available online.
· Andrea suggested that the Student Chapter could gain funding from BCLA if there was a “Student Interest Group” as part of the association. She will look into this further for the next meeting.

2. CACUL Grant
· Megan has received word from CLA in Ottawa that our Student Chapter has secured one of the Continuing Education grants
· There is some confusion about what the workshop will be on: our grant application focused on the idea of “Negotiations Skills for Librarians”, but since then we have had second thoughts as to the subject
· There was some discussion on having “Conflict Resolution” as our workshop theme
· Megan and Andrea will follow up with emails and meetings with other librarians and take some suggestions from them

3. International Librarianship
· Andrea & Megan announced that they do not have enough time to devote to this project as they now have to plan the CACUL event
· It was decided that we will not hold an International Librarianship event this term, perhaps someone will follow up with one next fall

4. Mentorship Lunch – Feb 13
· Suzanne said she has had very limited response to her email invitation to the lunch
· She asked that some people come and talk about their own experiences with their mentors so far
· Megan, Deborah and Andrea volunteered

5. Professional Experience Event (virtual report)
· Reiko has had responses from both Ellen George and Jaqui Haines
· She has decided to broaden the subject to include Directed Studies experiences as well
· Possible event date: early March

The next meeting date has not been set yet (it will probably be during the week of Feb. 24 – 28)
