1. Welcome

2. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes (October 20, 2009)
-Shannon approves, Jeannine seconds

3. Approval of Agenda
-Jeannine approves, Cynthia seconds

4. CLA Report (Jeannine)
-Submitted a short blurb to the Overdue, LASSA’s publication.

5. BCLA Report (Roen)
-Attending board meeting on Friday. All budget stuff going to be talked about. Going to be long.
-BCLA worried about shortage of volunteers for the conference in April (23rd – 24th) since Penticton will be hard to get to. Looked into hostels, which are available.
-BCLA speaker: Heather Scoular (Director NVDPL) – November 17th. Good talk. Lots of people. Held at 11 AM in 260 on a Tuesday, good time-slot and location (people from core class just stayed in the room).
-Jeannine: we made about $16.00
-Fundraiser for Christmas?
-Shannon: could do cookies for Valentine’s Day. Also, could have informational valentines with candy in peoples’ boxes, encouraging people to sign up for free BCLA membership.

6. Communications and Website Report (Tara)
-Never received minutes from two meetings ago. We should ask Corene if she is still in the club.
-Roen will ask.

7. Treasurer Report (Cynthia)
-Have club print card. Could get receipt for money put on card but not for $1.00 deposit. How to get refunded?
-Jeannine proposes to take $1.00 from cookie sale, not yet deposited into account. Tara seconds.
-For future reference: future execs. Need to know to get receipt from ASSIS. If some future club gets $1.00 deposit back, should go into club account.
-Not sure what has been refunded. Jeannine’s cookies from CLA president talk?
-Jeannine: not sure either. Will check.
-Cynthia: will check with Kate.
-Roen has receipts from cookies from Heather Scoular talk.

8. Mentorship Report (Alyssa, Jade and Annie)
- Annie’s update: Spoke with HR representative for Calgary Public Library. They are very interested in establishing mentorship ties between CPL and SLAIS. Will create ties with CPL and be ready for matching for this coming January cohort.

9. Tour Report (Alice)
-Richmond Public Library, Oct. 26, Follow-up
-2 people attended tour.
-Cynthia: Core students had Richmond Tour around the same time.
-Alice: need to get in touch with Heather O’Brien’s TA.
-Cynthia: her name is Elizabeth Shaffer.
-Shannon: her e-mail address is eshaffer@telus.net. Shannon will double check e-mail address and give to Alice.
-Vancouver Art Gallery, Nov. 13, Follow-up
-Very cool tour! Highly recommended for the future.
-Upcoming tours:
January -- Riverview Hospital Library, will start sign-up early January
February -- Vancouver Public Library Special Collections
UBC Special Collections, Judi Saltman's class exhibition. (Not yet set.)
-Shannon: exhibit will now open in April or May.
      
10. ALPS Report (Tara)
-Attended meeting yesterday. Going to December meeting at the University of Fraser Valley.
-Getting Hired in Higher Ed. event was successful. Jeannine wrote up small blurb. Will submit to BCLA Browser in January.

11. YAACS Report (Shannon)
-Will attend meeting on December 2nd.
-At meeting: will vote on doing informal YAACS book club. Would be very informal. People will just book talk.

12. Old Business
-None!

13.  New Business
-Replacements for execs, for next year. Team up with someone who would like to take over in September.
-No non-exec meeting attendees who are not graduating. Will revisit this in January.
-January LASSA Orientation speaker volunteers
-Tara and Roen are available to do talk. Jeannine will be backup in case someone can’t make it.
-Annie (L): wanted to let us know about Peer-Reviewed Conference on Children’s Text. On committee and trying to find speaker. Does anyone know of a good speaker?
-Shannon: last year Elisa Tsang. Scholars on children’s literature are hard to find.
