CLA Student
Chapter Meeting
November 20, 2000
1. Reports
Merinda McLure reported
that she is still in the process of finding speakers for our next seminar
on International Librarianship.
Stephanie Taggart
reported that she has contacted Miriam Camthorne at the Museum of Anthropology
and we could have a tour of the facility as early as January 24.
2. Next
Event
There was a great
deal of discussion of other possible speakers for the seminar on International
Librarianship. Merinda will make a posting to the SLAIS, SLA and BCLA listservs
to see if there are any responses. The GSS Penthouse is available and Merinda
will book the facility from 5-8 on January 15, 2000. Other options are
too costly. A proposed budget will be submitted to LASSA in January and
receipts presented to recoup funds. Tanya will prepare the posters over
the Christmas break.
3. Other
Business
-
Cory Davis would like
to organize a lunchtime event on digital copyright. He and other members
of the group will investigate possible speakers for an event sometime in
February.
-
Since there will be
a new intake of students in January it was suggested that a meeting for
new members should be held at the beginning of the month. Jordana will
contact CLA to see if anyone will be available in the region to speak to
the new students from the organization.
-
Deb suggested that a
listing of the dates for our proposed events should be posted to the CLA
and SLA discussion lists.
4. Next Meeting
Our next meeting,
to which new members will be invited, will be Monday January 8, 12:15-1:15,
Rm. 835. |
