1. Welcome
2. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes (September 15, 2009)
-Jeannine motions to approve.

4. CLA Report (Jeannine)
-CLA President John Teskey talk on Oct. 15th- Follow up.
-Great visit with president. 16 people came to the talk. He talked about professional development, his career and CLA. CLA sent student kits and prizes and we gave away a free student membership. President mentioned volunteer opportunities for CLA conference so will follow up with that. Will write write-up about all the organizational aspects of president's visit and keep this in BCLA/CLA binder so that the next year's CLA representative can have some idea of the logistics.
5. BCLA Report (Roen)
-BCLA speaker: Heather Scoular (Director NVDPL) – November 17th 11:30 am, Rm 260 (Room booked until 1 pm). Will talk for 45 minutes then take questions. She will decide the topic. She is a SLAIS grad. Roen will look into getting her parking reimbursed.
-Approval of money ($50?) for cookies
-Unanimously approved.
-Attended UBCM conference on Sept. 30th. No need for more volunteers. A lot of support at municipal and provincial levels for libraries (Ike Barber, Carol James, provincial mayors all in attendance).
6. Communications and Website Report (Tara)
-Website has been updated
-Will take Caroline off of website as she is no longer tour coordinator.
-BCLA browser submission by Tara and Roen about club updates.
-Can we get club print card? Tara will look into this and work with Cynthia.
7. Treasurer Report
-Jeannine submitted receipt for $27.00 for cookies which Cynthia will submit to LASSA.
8. Mentorship Report (Alyssa, Jade and Annie)
-Annie sent update via e-mail: Mentorship a success. 17 professional mentorships matched so far. 8 students matched with peer mentors so far. Creating templates for next group of coordinators.
9. Tour Report (Alice)
-Upcoming tours:
October 26, 3 pm – RPL, registering now (meet at the foot of the stairs on the main level)
-one person signed up for tour so far. Amy: That's because Heather's class has tours scheduled for that day.
November 12, 11 am – Vancouver Art Gallery Library and Archives, registering soon
-Others in the works:
January -- Riverview Hospital Library
February -- Vancouver Public Library Special Collections
(Also February -- UBC Special Collections, Judi Saltman's class exhibition. Not yet set)
March -- Justice Institute of BC
April -- BC College of Physicians and Surgeons
-Caroline no longer co-tour coordinator.
10. ALPS Report (Tara)
-Organizing November 2nd at lunch four pannelists. (Getting Hired in Higher Education)
-Found out BCLA will reimburse for cookies (some of cost). They can also provide BCLA swag as gifts for speakers, but already got gifts donated from the Vault.
11. YAACS Report (Shannon)
-Shannon e-mailed in report.
-Last YAACS meeting. Spent meeting discussing BCLA conference “Seriously Entertaining: Learning through Fun and Games.” If anyone has contacts with libraries in the interior, please urge them to submit proposals.
-Next YAACS meeting in December. Everyone welcome to come.
12. Old Business
- Membership- no issues signing up for membership.
13. New Business
-Pumpkin Carving (Roen)
-Interested in pumpkin carving fund-raiser. Issues: messy, where could we do it? How would we pick up pumkins?
-Other similar crafts that would be easier were discussed. Decided to do Halloween cookie decorating by donation next Friday the 30th in SLAIS. Roen will provide the cookies.
-Vendor talk
-Jennifer Bangcroft had approached Jeannine about club sponsoring Ebrary vendor talk next week. Heather has taken this on instead.
-Organizational turnover.
-Tara: We should start finding replacements and getting them up to speed in January. Almost all executive members are graduating.
