1. BCLA
Student Chapter
Discussion occurred over the benefits of a formal relationship. Concerns were raised that a formal commitment would also be needed from BCLA, just as a more formal commitment from CLA is also desired. It was decided to prepare a formal letter for circulation that would outline the expectations of the chapter and the possible ways in which the association could benefit both parties. Lorna Mackie will continue to develop this position and Anna Seip indicated her willingness to participate in the negotiation of further partnerships. 2. Fund Development, Grant Writing and Marketing Conference Karen Munro and Jordana Heaton updated the group on the CACUL workshop grant proposal. The application was sent out and the decision should be reached in February regarding funding. Concerns were raised over the three-day conference format. It was decided to attempt a one-day workshop for March 4. Karen Munro will continue to contact individuals suggested for the fund development portion and to confirm catering and room booking prices. Jordana Heaton will also contact potential speakers and confirm funding from CLA and CACUL. Merinda McLure will contact Lynn Copeland and Paul Whitney for further speaker recommendations. 3. CLA Conference 2002 Jordana Heaton notified the group that the proposed conference session on student membership in CLA has been pulled. Reasons for the withdrawal included the inability of the group to contact other student chapters and the difficulty of confirming student attendance so early in the term. 4. International Librarianship Event Michelle Mallette
proposed a joint SLA, CLA, LASSA International Librarianship night. She
will contact potential speakers and be in touch when further cooperation
is required.
