BCLA/CLA Student Chapter Meeting

Meeting called to order: 12:20pm
Tara contacted Susie and learned that approx. 35 people are subscribed to the listserv currently.
After discussion about if the listserv is useful, the group came to consensus that Tara will inquire about deleting the listserv
Tara will establish a BCLA/CLA Student Ch. e-mail account. Best option is an interchange account, and second option is a hotmail or yahoo account
Tara will contact Christine to make the necessary changes on the website
Hope booked FNS 40 through Debra, she is now confirming with Mary
Hope will publicize the event by posting to the listserv, noting the event on the SLAIS events calendar, the online SLAIS calendar, publicizing at our Core presentation, create a poster for the BCLA/CLA bulletin board
All BCLA/CLA members will announce this event in our classes
Camille will explore the possibilities of gift certification donations from the Granville Book Co. and other local bookshops
Heather will contact Richard to inquire about a suitable time, potentially Tuesday October 5th
Heather will update the tours section of the info sheet
Tara will remove our personal e-mail addresses and add the general BCLA/CLA Student Ch. address
Michael Burris (BCLA Exec. Secretary) and another member will visit SLAIS
Hope will contact Michael about either Tuesday Oct 5th or Tues Oct 12th
Hope will contact Debra to book TEF for the lunch hour
The four person mentorship team is currently recruiting mentors and mentees, will match the mentors & mentees during the week of Oct. 48, is planning a mentorship pub night potentially with our Archival counterpart in late Oct. and will create a bulletin board display at TEF
Heather reported that she hasnÕt heard back from the ISchool in Seattle
Heather communicated with Keith of the SLA@SLAIS regarding tour collaboration, potential tour locations include Electronic Arts, MOA, the Library Processing Centre, Rare Books and the Canadian Music Centre (in groups of 18-20)
Janine will plan the session for the 2nd term coinciding with an issue such as Freedom to Read week
Janine organized the calendar that is posted in TEF
We will evaluate at the end of November based on use
Heather will chair our next meeting in 3 weeks
