11. Old business
Becoming our own club under AMS:
- Mê-Linh: Met with AMS club and gave reasons why we want to separate from LASSA.
-Need to have a minimum of three executives and ten active members in first year as new club. Second year need five executives (one must be Sustainability Coordinator) and ten active members.
-Would submit three names as executive and rest of executives as “active members.”
-Just get people to sign their name and people who attend a tour.
-Need to write up constitution and give five minute presentation to AMS.
-Would need to charge membership fees (minimum $1).
-LASSA willing to help with membership fees.
-Would need to prove we are open to letting undergraduates in. Hold an event like: “What is librarianship?”
YAACS representative:
-Andrea: Going to YAACS meeting. Create YAACS/rotating rep position?
-Make YAACS reporting part of regular agenda?
-Caroline motions, Shannon seconds.
Mentorship business cards:
-Andrea: Should we put in money for business cards? $40 will get a big stack.
-No personal names on card. Group name and e-mail address so everyone could use it. Black and white basic card.
-Beth motions to budget $40 for business cards, Caroline seconds.
YAACS-SLAIS pub night in January:
-Andrea: Do it towards beginning of January. Get new students matched right away. Suggestions?
-Caroline: Good place between 12 th & Broadway and Commercial.
- Mê-Linh: Steamers downtown is bigger and convenient.
-May need to make reservations and get RSVPs.
-Janet Mumford interested.
-Good way to hook people into Children's Services.
-Shannon with contact MACL students—might be interested.
Clothesline at graduation/alum events for mentorship matching—good idea?
-Shannon: worth the time if okay on mentors right now?
-Caroline: May be worth trying to do for new grad event in April.
-Andrea: Revisit this in January.
Is there a BCLA/CLA bulletin board?
-Caroline: no. Good to get one.
-Andrea: will send out e-mail to Tania about bulletin board.
