The proposed CLA visit has been approved for Friday January 12, 2007 by Edie. We will provide a lunch, location to be determined depending on where the new students will be.

  4. BCLA Report (Natalie)
The ALPS December meeting will be taking place on Friday December 8, 2006. An email has been sent out inviting SLAIS students to attend, and will try to carpool. The meeting will go from 11am to 4pm, so there will be plenty of time to take the ferry to and from the Island. The BCLA Board meeting will be taking place next Friday, November 24th.

  5. Treasurer's Report (Pippa)
We will be receiving $200 from the school from last year and this year at the same time – so we will have lots of money ($400!) for events when these cheques are cashed.

  6. Communications Report (Jennifer)
No communications report was provided at this meeting.

  7. Website Report (Martha)
Martha is graduating in three weeks – congratulations!!!!! Therefore, her position needs to be filled. Stephen Warren, the CLA rep, has volunteered to take over the position of "webmaster" in Martha's place.

  8. Mentorship Report (Monica Chattaway)
Monica has matched 2 people with professionals – way to go Monica!!!! She has also begun recruiting professionals from VPL. She would like to create a mentorship database, which was fully approved by all executive members present.

  9. Tour Coordinator's Report (Tara Williston)
The tours at VPL's Central Branch went well, as did those at Rare Books and Special Collections. Ralph, the Head Librarian at RBSC, was very pleased with his gift. Tara is starting to organize a tour to Seattle for next semester, and will see how much interest there is before proceeding with any concrete planning.

  10. Events recap:
    1. Job Fair
      1. It was decided to commit $50 towards the job fair, which will occur on March 2. Manami, one of the BCLA/CLA's reps on the job fair committee, will not be able to continue in this position, so Pippa said that she could take her place. Tara has also said that she can help with whatever needs to be done.
    2. Bulletin Board
      1. The executive members that were present decided that the bulletin board would be completed by the time school starts in January (in terms of putting up pictures of the executive with their bios)
