Yes, there is. The e-mail list is asist-ubc (at) interchange.ubc.ca. To subscribe, send the following in the body of an email message to "Majordomo@interchange.ubc.ca" (leave the subject line blank) :

Do I need to become a student member of ASIS&T to participate in activities held by the Student Chapter at UBC?
You have to be a student member of ASIS&T in order to become an Officer. However, anyone interested in our activities is invited to come and participate. That said, we do encourage you to become an ASIS&T (student) member for all the benefits the organization offers.
