Welcome
Welcome to the website of the University of British Columbia Student Chapter of the Association of Canadian Archivists.
Who Are We?
The UBC ACA Student Chapter was established in 2004 in response to a growing interest in and need for an archival presence among students at UBC's School of Library, Archival and Information Studies (SLAIS). We encourage all students who are interested in archives to participate in Chapter activities, and liaise with our parent organization, the ACA. The Chapter is administered through a volunteer student executive and succeeds through the participation of its members.
Our Vision
The ACA Student Chapter exists to encourage student involvement in the archival community, and to interact with other archival students, both at UBC and across Canada.
What We Do
The ACA Student Chapter offers a wide range of activities to facilitate professional growth. To achieve our vision we provide a "peer program" that matches first year students with second years to foster community within SLAIS. To build relations within the archival community we offer tours of local archival repositories and host guest speakers. To exist financially we are active in fundraising and also donate to non-profit organizations within the community.
To learn more about what we do, please see the Activities section of this website. Join our listserv to keep informed of all our activities.
