ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURE OF INDEXING LANGUAGE IN THESAURUS
Pre-Coordinate
Headings and Post-Coordinate Retrieval Our
indexing does not make use of pre-coordinate headings and is designed
for post-coordinate retrieval using truncation and Boolean logic. In our
case, false drops are not expected to result frequently from the Boolean
logic searches. This is because the same words in a compound term do not
appear in a different sequence in another term. For example, a Boolean
search using "portly AND cut" will retrieve "portly cut"
but not "cut portly".
