BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Welcome to the Wiggy Thesaurus! We are a wig distribution
and collection company. We collect previously used wigs, clean them
to our highest qualifications, and resell or rent them to various movie,
television, and theatre companies in the Lower Mainland for use in group
or crowd scenes. We also supply new wigs to those companies that
need wigs for leading roles. Although we do not make wigs to order,
if there is a style that we do not have we will locate it and ship it within
48 hours of your request.
We are a mid-sized company, with 45 employees involved
in various aspects of the wig business, including care, maintenance, scouting,
and custom fitting on set. We have a widely acclaimed reputation
for high quality products and excellent customer service.
While we have an extensive collection of wigs from
all time periods, with a wide range of colours and styles, due to popular
demand, our website has chosen to start with an on-line index of female
wig styles of the 20th Century. Basic wig construction terminology
is included to ensure that all of the needs of our customers are met, regarding
make of wig as well as style.
As we are actually categorizing the wigs themselves,
the following thesaurus involves styles of wigs, as well as some basic
construction terms that are necessary for proper ordering and fitting of
wigs.
USERS
Our primary user group is costume experts looking
for wigs for theatre, movie or television productions. We are starting
with 20th Century female hairstyles, as that is what is in demand at the
moment. As our website expands we will include all eras of hairstyles
in wig form, as well as male wig styles. The importance of this site
is for costume artists to have access to multiple styles of wigs in all
colours at their convenience. Due to the specific nature of terminology
used, this thesaurus is aimed at the professional working with theatre,
movie, and television productions in the Lower Mainland, as well as those
professionals around the world who have access to our website. While
the general public may access our database, as well as librarians and others
who are planning their thesauri, we feel that these are not our "core"
group, and as such this website is not designed specifically for those
users.
