INTRODUCTION

Every library must begin somewhere.

The most obvious example is when a new university opens its doors for the first time, revealing the library's Opening Day Collection.

But what is a relaunch?

When a university or college changes its mission, and the existing library must renew its collection to meet the new requirements of the institution.
When the development of new technology demands a library alter its acquisitions policy to include the new media into an existing collection.
When a library is destroyed by war, how does it begin again?
