Our Thanks to Experiential Learning Hosts
SLAIS is committed to providing students with a variety of learning experiences while they work on their degrees, all of which contribute to the excellence and professionalism that has become a hallmark of a SLAIS graduate.
In addition to courses offered on-site and via web-based delivery, SLAIS offers a variety of courses aimed at providing students with field-based experiences. Additionally, the well-respected SLAIS Co-op program, managed by the UBC Arts Co-op office, provides students with access, via a competitive real-word hiring process, with degree-related paid employment as part of their MAS, MLIS or Dual MAS/MLIS program. Students who engage in these varied learning experiences are hosted by professionals who give their time and energy in planning and delivering quality experiential learning activities to SLAIS students.
Such activities help students connect classroom learning with real-world projects and expectations, and provide the host organizations with the energy and up-to-the-minute skills of a master's student in the second half of a demanding program.
We thank the organizations and supervisors who have made these learning experiences possible during the 2010-11 academic year. The variety is indeed impressive, and we believe it is a testament to the quality of our students and programs. Thank you.
