ARST 593B: information technology & Archives (3) -- course DESCRIPTION

 

Goals : To gain an introduction and practical knowledge of how Information Technology is used:

  • in professional working environments
  • to find and publish information
  • to manage archival information
  • to create and manage electronic records

Objectives :

Upon completion of this course students will:  

  • Use office productivity software for effective professional communication
  • Understand the basic categories and architectures of Information Technology
  • Use Internet technologies for finding, distributing, and publishing information related to archival science

Understand how data technologies and standards are used to manage archival information
Gain an introduction to the technical environment in which electronic records are created, used, managed and preserved.
