during Summer Session 2003. However,
as a temporary solution during Summer Session 2003 only, it was agreed
to allow requests for exemption to the 24 credit prerequisite requirement
for LIBR 594 Directed Study. As
a guideline during Summer Session 2003 only, the minimum prerequisite
will be 18 credits. 2. Piternick Faculty Research Award Ann Curry is the 2002-2003 recipient of the Piternick Faculty Research Award. 3. LIBR 579G Archival Materials and Community Libraries The course description for LIBR 579G was approved. 4. Student Admissions and Adjudication a. Advanced credit for courses taken prior to degree program Faculty of Graduate Studies’ policy on advanced credit for
courses taken prior to the start of the degree program was discussed
at the recent student admissions and adjudication meeting. This policy was not approved for use at SLAIS. This
was determined as courses taken prior to the start of the program
are not useful to the degree if taken in advance. It
was agreed that students should begin the program and then determine
individual requirements. RH and TE will prepare a draft policy for review
at the next faculty meeting. b. Applications to Joint Degree program after completion of MAS or
MLIS degree It was agreed that the Curriculum and Program Development
Committee will review whether a reduction of credits will be recommended
for applicants to the Joint Degree program who have already completed
a MAS or MLIS degree. 5. Director’s Report Faculty of Arts Meeting It was noted that courses for the SLAIS co-op program were
approved. A recommendation to change LIBR 597 Research Collaboration
from required to elective has passed. This change will affect continuing and new
students beginning in September 2003, who may choose to take elective
course LIBR 597. All students
completing program requirements prior to August 2003 will be required
to take LIBR 597. |
