Take Off, Eh! is a fictitious travel e-zine, created in order to provide context for the construction of a thesaurus of terms to be used for indexing articles discussing the equipment needs of a Canadian student planning his/her first backpacking trip to Europe.

This project is in partial fulfillment of requirements for LIBR 512 Indexing, a master’s level course in the School of Library, Archival and Information Studies at The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. Project members include Hansel Cook, Michelle Mallette and Robyn Wanner, all in our final semester of coursework for an MLIS degree (Master’s in Library and Information Studies).

As a result, the links on our home page are live but do not connect you with the information you are seeking. We apologize, and suggest you may wish to use at least two search engines (may we suggest Google and HotBot) and search for useful sites using all of the following terms:

students travel Europe (backpack OR backpacking)

The advanced search interfaces for both of these search engines is especially helpful if you are comfortable with Boolean search logic.
Alternatively, you may wish to visit some of the web resources we found useful in creating this thesaurus.
