Schedule B (Available Only to Part-time Students) No candidate who selects Schedule B will pay total fees of less than the first nine (9) installments (plus authorized student fees).
Certificate of Advanced Study candidates are not eligible for
Schedule B. The tuition fee for Certificate of Advanced Study candidates
will be equivalent to the cost of a Master’s degree for Canadian
citizens and permanent residents.
Master of Archival Studies, Master of Library and Information Studies, Joint Master of Archival Studies/Master of Library and Information Studies Schedule A (Available to All Students) No candidate who selects Schedule A will pay total fees of less than the first three installments (plus authorized student fees).
Schedule B (Available Only to Part-time Students) No candidate who selects Schedule B will pay total fees of less than the first nine (9) installments (plus authorized student fees).
International Students Master of Arts in Children’s Literature, Master of Archival Studies, Master of Library and Information Studies, Joint Master of Archival Studies/Master of Library and Information Studies International students admitted to programs charging tuition fees of $7,200 are eligible for an International Partial Tuition Scholarship of $3,251 which is applied to assist with their tuition fees. Students are eligible as long as they are not a recipient of any external funding that pays their tuition. Schedule A (Available to All Students) No candidate who selects Schedule A will pay total fees of less than the first three installments [plus authorized student fees].
Schedule B (Available Only to Part-time Students) No candidate who selects Schedule B will pay total fees of less than nine (9) instalments plus authorized student fees and will continue to pay the full instalment rate plus authorized student fees until degree completion
Doctor of Philosophy in Library, Archival and Information Studies All candidates are considered to be 'full-time' for the assessment of tuition and authorized student fees. The normal fee for the doctoral program is payable in three (3) instalments per year according to the following schedule plus authorized student fees. No candidate in any doctoral program will pay total fees of less than the first six (6) instalments plus authorized student fees. Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents (Landed Immigrants)
International Students
SLAIS Services and Supplies FeeThe SLAIS Services and Supplies Fee cover all program costs associate with maintenance of specific course readings and materials; photocopying and additional course materials; telephone and locker privileges. All first year students at the beginning of their program are assessed a one-time SLAIS Services and Supplies Fee as follows:
Continuing students who have recently transferred to the Joint Degree program are required to pay the outstanding balance. The SLAIS Student Fee also covers a one-time student society fee assessed by Library and Archival Studies Students Association (LASSA). If you are late in paying your fees you will be placed on financial hold. A $25 processing fee will be assessed and interest will accrue on the outstanding balance until it is paid in full. You will not be eligible to register in any future session, receive statements of grades and be allowed to graduate. Use of the Library may be restricted as well.
SLAIS Student Fees and Other ExpensesStudents are responsible for expenses incurred during courses, field trips, and fieldwork. The estimated expenses for each year, exclusive of tuition and room and board, are as follows: Full-time Winter Session
In addition, all students assessed the above AMS or GSS fees regardless of credit load or place of residence will be assessed a maximum fee of $210.00 for the period September 1 to August 31, made up as follows:
Students who already have equivalent extended health and dental insurance may opt out of the AMS plan. Students registered in Winter Session must apply to opt out by the end of the third week of classes. The extended health and dental insurance plan is not available to students who are registered only in Summer Session. Students wishing to opt out should contact:
*Assessment for all students enrolled in a program of 18 credits
or more and full-time graduate students; for assessments applicable
to students taking fewer than 18 credits and part-time graduate
students, refer to the Fees section of the University Calendar.
